Auntie Sashi

Caution: extremely belated post!
I did my major blog update yesterday night and I forgot a very important happening of last weekend...Auntie Sashi was it town for Thanksgiving! We got back from Boston Saturday morning, so we got to spend a good part of the weekend together, which was really nice.

St. Joes

Well we're back from Michigan. Panda and I had a lovely time with Cookie, Grandpa, and Sasha and we absolutely adored the Konker's laid back, retro-style and completely comfy cozy beach house. It has so much personality! I drove up on Wednesday with Jill and Simon, who decided to stay for the night after we realized there were about sixteen spare beds. It was so fun to have a road trip and a slumber party! But Panda and I missed Mark so much the whole time we were gone. We wish he had been able to come with!

PS. The porch (decidedly the favorite room in the house) shady and breezy, ended up being the place to congregate over the hot hot hot weekend. We all loved napping on the swinging bed!

Block Party in Pictures

Yesterday Panda and I went to the Kenmore Street Block Party with Jill and Simon. It was cool and cloudy but we still had a good time.

Panda Visits the MCA

Auntie Sasha, Grandpa Jim and I took Chloe to the Museum of Contemporary Art for lunch and an hearty dash of culture. We went to see the Buckminster Fuller collection, but Chloe was truly wowed by the absolutely mesmerizing study of light refraction on the first floor. Here's Chloe strolling through a kaleidoscopic rainbow tunnel, a highlight of the "Take Your Time" exhibit. The first museum trip was an official success!

Chloe finally got to meet her Aunt Sasha on Friday afternoon! Sasha got to come to Chicago for a long weekend to meet her new niece and they got along famously! It was wonderful to have you here, Sasha! We all miss you already!

Happy Half Birthday To Us

My darling sister was home for the holidays -our half birthdays and Valentines Day that is!- over the weekend. Look how happy Marley is to see her! She will be back in Chicago next for Spring Break, March 11th-22nd. It was perfect timing for my original due date, March 15th, but now that it has been pushed back to March 27th I'm worried she'll probably miss the action. Abernathy, can you hear me? Let's aim for sometime when your Auntie Sasha will be in town :-)

Bon Voyage!

Sasha is heading back to school tomorrow so Mark and I headed over to Kenmore this evening for a delicious last supper. We'll miss you, Sasha! Click on either photo above to view more pictures from the evening's festivities: sewing, sushi feast, Yosemite Sam impersonations and *gasp* a game!

Pig Face

Oops, we got stuck chatting in an unflattering light!

I realize that "pig face" is a really mean thing to say! I didn't mean to refer to her as pig face, but I just thought it was funny that she got stuck on the internet making a porcine expression! It also reminds me of this scary movie I watched when I was a child. In the movie two mean girls were making faces at another girl. They were aiming to taunt her but meanwhile they looked pretty ugly making those faces. Anyway someone walked up from behind them and smacked them on the back and lo and behold the ugly faces got stuck and they looked like little monsters for the rest of the movie and, I would assume, for the rest of their lives. Let that be a lesson to you! The old pat-on-the-back theory might scare some children out of making faces momentarily, that is until they realize it's ludicrous, but the possibility of an ill-timed computer freeze up is all too real.

My sister is gorgeous. She can really pull of this look!
